HOW MANY STUDENTS IN A CLASS?
Sizes of classes vary. Since our courses are geared to individual needs, we
ensure that we have the optimal number of students in each class. The actual
number will therefore vary depending on the nature of the study and the study
level.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE COURSES?
It is our aim to enable students to progress at an ideal rate at any given time
in their learning career. It is therefore not our policy to offer students a
fixed number of tuition hours per week, since individual needs vary so widely.
We have accordingly developed a unique system which offers a combination of
class tuition, private tuition and regularly monitored individual home study.
This makes it possible for each student to be given precisely the attention and
time they need.
The minimum requirements are class attendance twice a week, and the completion
of daily homework assignments. Tutorials and special help are by arrangement.
Books not normally available from public libraries can be borrowed by our
students from the school library. Examination students are given mock tests and
interviews as an integral part of the course.
WHAT ARE THE METHODS USED?
We use methods researched by us and exclusive to our schools. These include
audio-visual materials specially prepared for our students. Our methods are
highly refined to ensure that every student is enabled to progress at the ideal
rate and that continuous successful learning can take place without the need to
spend long and tedious hours in the classroom. We specialize in giving
individual attention, particularly to pronunciation and fluency. We aim to
motivate our students and help them to become independent of the teacher as soon
as possible.
FOR WHOM IS THE SCHOOL?
For au-pairs and foreign students staying in England for periods of one month to
one year or longer.
WHO ARE OUR STUDENTS?
Although we have had students from countries as distant as South America and the
Far East, most of our students come from the Continent and the Scandinavian
countries.
HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER ENGLISH LANGUAGE
SCHOOLS?
The atmosphere in our school is friendly and informal, and new students are
introduced to at least one new friend upon arrival. Many of our past students
have formed lasting friendships, and stay in touch with the school for many
years after leaving.
DO WE PREPARE STUDENTS FOR PUBLIC EXAMINATIONS?
We accept students at all levels from absolute beginners to very advanced. We
prepare students for the First Certificate in English and Proficiency in English
examinations held twice yearly by the University of Cambridge.
EXAMINATION CENTRE?
Since we are a centre for the University of Cambridge examinations in English,
we are able to offer our students the convenience of taking examinations on
school premises.
WHEN IS THE SCHOOL OPEN?
The school is open throughout the year and enrolment is therefore possible at
any time. Subject to places being available, students can begin their studies
immediately after their preliminary test. (To determine entry level).
HOW DO YOU ENROL?
Telephone to make an appointment for the preliminary test. After that the
procedure is very simple.
HOW DO YOU PAY?
Our fee is payable monthly in advance on the day of the first lesson, and
thereafter on the same date of each month. There is no registration fee and
there are no other charges. We do not normally accept payment for more or less
than one month.
EXAMINATION FEES?
We have a special fee structure for students entering for the University of
Cambridge examinations. One inclusive payment covers the cost of all school
tuition and university examination fees.
CERTIFICATES?
School Certificates, Certificates of Attendance, and Student Cards are issued
